30 Days of Genealogy: Days 27 & 28

6/27 – brick wall success
6/28 – ancestor you’d like to meet

I’d like to meet two ancestors. The first being my great-grandma Alida, on my mom’s side. She was a spitfire with an incredible sense of humor. She also endured more than anyone should have to and I want to know more about that. I did get to meet her, but she had already moved into the nursing home and Parkinson’s dementia had stolen her mind. I’d love to be able to let her tell those stories so they don’t get lost, no matter how traumatic some of them were. I’d love to be able to ask those difficult questions and give her a voice again.

The second is my paternal grandfather. He died about 3 years before I was born. My older sister remembers him a little bit.

I need any information he has about his family history and our shared last name. That simple.

I split the 27th and the 28th post because I don’t really have a brick wall success. I’ve started to go back through my tree and check my work, compare censuses, make sure I have all the information there is about an individual before moving on to the next. Looking forward to knocking down a large brick wall someday.
