This is one of the older postcards I’ve received having been sent in 1983.

Hello,
We’re having a nice, nice, nice trip. We’re here for a while then we will move on. Hope all is well with you both.
Our best, Gladys and Don
When looking up the recipients of the postcard, I came across a 1930 census report for Pierre M. Mols, and his wife, Freda. They were both 25 at the time. The census report also tells us that Pierre and his parents were all born in Holland. In 1930, he was working as a cameraman for film studios.
I plugged his information into newpapers.com and found an article in the Ventura County Star that asked kids where their ancestors were from and why they are proud of it. I found this from Pierre’s great-grandson, Cooper, who was in 4th grade at the time.

How cool is that! According to the 1930 census, Pierre didn’t immigrate to the United States until 1923, not 1918 as mentioned above. I can’t find any more documentation regarding the immigration. There were no naturalization records that I could find. But I did find a marriage record from Pierre and Freda, who were married on November 19, 1927.
I love that Pierre made it in California by playing his violin and then eventually getting a job in the film business. I imaging he was a big lover of the arts.
