30 Days of Genealogy: Day 14

Free resources

The National Genealogical Society and Find A Grave are my two favorite free resources.

I check the Genealogical Society website almost daily to see what free (and paid) webinars they have to offer. On the weekends I can easily find 3-4 throughout the day and they often overlap. During the week it’s hard to join because I am on Alaska time and I’m still at work when most of the webinars start. Highly recommend checking it out to see if there are any that interest you. I’m particularly enjoying the ones that focus on DNA and forensic genealogy.

Find a Grave is a great way to find out burial information. Sometimes an individual has a biography that details their family. It also tends to show the parents, spouse, and children of someone, which is super helpful to confirm the information that is already in your family tree. More evidence, you could say.

I hope these are helpful to someone!
