Father’s Day…

Happy Father’s Day to all the different kinds of dads out there! My partner (aka cat-dad) asked me if I had a special post for today. Honestly, I hadn’t thought about it. So I went through the majority of my post cards looking for ones that were “to” or “from” dad, and was surprised to find a couple.

The first one I found was from a dad to his kiddo in 1943.

It took me a minute to figure out where the post card was sent to. It looks like his son or daughter was studying at Campion College in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin, staying in Marquette Hall.

In Buffalo Tues. I was uncomfortable without a top coat. Here today I suffered in a sweltering heat. Will be glad to get back to Akron.
Dad.

The second one was sent from a dad to his son, Jack, in Nebraska…I think. This one was a little bit harder for me to read which is not super surprising because it was sent in 1954 and written in pencil. I’m surprised it’s not more faded.

Jack,
So far not a dent or scratch. Made it o.k. In St. Paul and Minneapolis. Did get into a one way street headed wrong.
Dad

I’m not sure that is something that I would be willing to admit in a postcard for everyone to read… (haha!)

How sweet is it that these dads took the time to sit down to write to their kiddos!

A special Happy Father’s Day to my dad, who I lost almost 2 years ago now. Love and miss you, dad.
